Tweet4Ok's Xeeme widgetWe are in the midst of the Social Media revolution and it often seems like there are new Social Media Platforms and tools popping up every day. Many of us have also noticed that a new business skill is evolving: The ability to know how to reach your contacts. You have to know who you need to call, who to email, who to tweet, skype or reach on Facebook, Google+ and the list goes on.
Just like the good old phone book in it’s day there are a few directory sites around where we can list our digital presence. One that I use is XeeMe

XeeMe [ pronounce “see me” ] is a directory where you can list all of the online places that you use - you can even enter your log-in data to have it all in one place. I set up my XeeMe over a year ago but I never really got how to use it.

Michael Q Todd XeeMe badgeSo I called up Michael Q Todd - a true expert on a lot of the Social Media tools out there. Michael is passionate about connecting with as many people as possible and he is very good at it.

Here is what he says about himself:

I am Michael the Green Net Guy from Tokyo. I believe the internet will save the planet by spreading and enhancing consciousness , breaking down national borders and conflicting interests and bring economic parity.

I am focused on mastering the tools of the internet in order to promote the cause of a sustainable economy governed by a single responsible body representative of all peoples.

Michael has almost 30 accounts listed on his XeeMe and he wrote an excellent blog post about the more technical aspects of the tool. He was kind enough to explain to me how to use XeeMe best:

“XeeMe acts as a directory to the social web. If you have someone’s XeeMe profile you can connect with them in the platform they prefer”

“I made connections to people in the most surprising ways”

“XeeMe works best if you use it as the only link to your social media presence. In your email signature, on your website, business card, twitter profile….. anywhere where you can leave a contact URL.”

“Because XeeMe lets you order your networks by priority it is a great way to focus new connections on your favourite networks”

I have to admit to being skeptical at first. There are so many business and Social Media directories out there. But after talking to Michael I see the value in this one. With over 1 Million users and almost 400 Social Networks from all over the world, XeeMe is a great tool to have in your toolbox.

Do you have a XeeMe? I would love to connect, please share it in the comments. Do you have your own XeeMe story?
